DS Group
As a leading FMCG conglomerate with a strong Indian and International presence, DS Group (Dharampal Satyapal Group) is guided by a clear set of values that are built on a strong foundation of collective good. The DS Group is future-focused, and has been steadily expanding its ‘green’ initiatives, including Energy and Water Conservation— reflecting its response to what the world needs and its role as a committed corporate citizen.
To move closer to our objectives, we work on projects focussed on critical focus areas across the country, such as Water Conservation, Livelihood Enhancement, Education, Community Development and Gender equality to help the communities and have a long term impact. From creating awareness to implementation and ensuring sustainability, the projects encourage proactive participation from stakeholders, local bodies and recognised NGOs.
At DS Group, we believe that farmers are our important stakeholders and are motivated to pursue our water conservation efforts to ensure a sustainable water supply that enhances their livelihoods. In this, we have partnered with likeminded organisations and supported multiple projects in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Gujarat, benefitting people from the marginalised communities.
The ‘Water Economic Zone’, is based on integrated watershed development approach considering water as a critical and important tool for the economy of a particular area rather considering as a mere natural resource. In this approach, our focus is beyond conservation- effective management and judicial use are also equally important.
In partnership with various social development organisations, DS Group aims to strengthen sustainable livelihoods involving small and marginal farmers through key interventions like crop diversification, promoting agro-climate specific commercially viable crops, FPO promotion, incubating entrepreneurs, farm mechanisation and WADI interventions.
DS Group believes that the partnership is key to solving the critical and complex issues and challenges faced by the society and planet.
Gender-related ideas and practices shape all layers of society, influencing children’s behaviour through observation. Boys grow up with expectations about their roles at home and in public, learning to adopt value systems that do not encourage them to be aware. Saamya aims towards building a gender-sensitive society by involving young boys aged, 7 to 11 years, so that they can observe, reflect, and take action to change behaviour in their own lives and influence others. The programme has designed an innovative activity-based module that operates on the principles of Empathy, Respect, Equality, Dignity, Diversity and Integrity. Gender is the cross-cutting value through the ethics of Saamya.
With a vision of enabling children to achieve their maximum potential, DS Group supports education for children hailing from low-income backgrounds, and residing in vulnerable areas. The Integrated Community development programme involves fostering positive and sustainable changes within a specific community, aiming to address the unique needs and aspirations of the community by adopting multi-thematic approach in partnership.
