During the global pandemic, schools around the world paused in-person classes. In communities with access to technology and electricity, barriers held some learners back. Children struggled with remote learning and wrestled with mental health challenges.
In many resource-constrained communities without access to energy and technology, learning didn’t become more complicated. It simply ceased. Hundreds of thousands of children left school never to return. Boys and girls were forced to abandon their studies to find work. Many girls married and began early child bearing.
