Social entrepreneurs are often described as mavericks given their innovative and often unconventional approaches to addressing the root causes of social issues rather than reacting to symptoms. Some of them also have a willingness to initiate what is described as a ‘moonshot’ or an ambitious, exploratory, and ideally, groundbreaking initiative sometimes viewed as being impossible. This session will introduce a panel of Canadian social innovators who will share the results of their out-of-the-box thinking, passion, and dedication that has resulted in what are now ready-to-scale, viable initiatives. Encourage funders and influencers to consider longer term innovative solutions addressing root causes rather than one-off projects.
