Our sustainability vision – Godrej Good & Green – is to create a more inclusive, equitable and greener world.
Here are our three priorities for 2025 and our progress against each
1. Empower with skills
Empower 300,000 people in emerging economies with skills and livelihoods support to enhance their incomes.
Skills in marginalised populations remains a challenge. We have enabled over 100,000 people so far to build skills and enhance their incomes. We have supported small farmers and helped them make agriculture a viable livelihood option. We have also supported women build a career in the beauty and wellness industry that provides flexible work pathways where women can work on their own terms.
2. Protect health and well-being
Protect 30 million people against vector-borne diseases and strengthen public healthcare systems in 3 Indian states
Enable access to entitlements and well-being for over 500,000 people
95% of Indian population lives in malaria-endemic areas. Through our Elimination of Mosquito Borne Endemic Diseases (EMBED) initiative we are working with the Government of India to eliminate malaria by 2030. We amplify the government efforts to build capacity of healthcare workers, prevent mosquito breeding and mosquito bites, and improve malaria testing and treatment. Because of this partnership model, we have been able to reach out to over 28.4 million people in India since FY16 and move the needle on public health outcomes significantly. Our programme has been appreciated by the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Millions of farmers and construction workers have no employment benefits or any safety net of funds. The government provides number of welfare schemes for farmers and workers and the benefits range from pension, education and maternity assistance, loans for business, and even accident and medical expenses. We run an entitlements enablement programme that connects people to avail welfare schemes and unlock government funds. So far, we have helped over 180,000 people avail these benefits.
Godrej Industries Group empowers 300,000 people, protects 30 million from vector-borne diseases, manages waste for 10 million, and drives sustainability through watershed development and carbon sequestration, embodying its commitment to social and environmental impact by 2025.
3. Care for nature and resources
Ensure efficient waste management systems impacting 10 million people
Maintain water positivity
We are making better products. As we channel innovation in making delightful products we are also ensuring our process sends zero waste to landfills. We also run large-scale community waste management programmes across 12 municipalities in India and have helped divert over 50,000 MT (Million Tonnes) of solid waste from landfills reaching millions of people.
We have also developed over 12,500 hectares of land for watersheds, this has enabled to capture over 50 million m3 (cubic meter) of water in drought-prone regions across India. Large-scale afforestation programmes in these watershed regions have also helped us sequester over 83,000 tCO2 (tonnes of carbon dioxide).
