Goodfolks, is an organisation in Sri Lanka that emerged from the crisis small businesses faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Founder, Dinesh Gratian Perera, realised he could use his brand building expertise to support small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs).

Sustainable Development Goals targeted

SDG 1 No Povery SDG 3 Good health and well-being SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth SDG 10 Reduced inequalities SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production

Social entrepreneurs are known for finding solutions to society’s problems. What is the problem you are addressing and your solution?

SMMEs face stagnant economic growth due to a lack of expertise and development opportunities. Goodfolks’ transformation programme enables SMMEs to draw on higher values, learn new skills and access wider markets, while learning to comply with environmentally friendly, sustainable and ethical manufacturing practices.

Goodfolks’ objectives are to:

  1. Increase the value, such as financial or new learning gains, that is retained at SMME level.
  2. Expand the basket of products exported from Sri Lanka and to offer more options to conscious consumers through responsible production processes.
  3. Drive change and conversion to responsible consumption.
