Catalyst 2030 Lebanon and Saint Joseph University (USJ) are collaborating to take action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On 26 April 2023 the Lebanon Chapter and the Faculty of Business Administration and Management (FGM) at USJ signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote the implementation of the SDGs on the university campus and beyond. This will include joint awareness campaigns, events and activities, and knowledge exchange.
At the signing event, FGM Dean Dr Fouad Zmmokhol expressed the belief that, “Close cooperation and active engagement … will lead to effective change on the university level, the community and the country at large.”
Everyone can contribute to the SDGs
The Lebanon Chapter was represented by Chapter Co-Chairs Dr Jackie Maalouf, President of Dialeb, and Amin Nehme, President of the Lebanese Development Network. Dr Maalouf praised Catalyst 2030 and the role it is playing in advancing the SDGS internationally and on local and regional levels. “The beauty of the SDGs is that everyone can contribute, and make a real and meaningful impact.”
Addressing students, Nehme explained the impact of the SDGs on future jobs and careers. The SDGs, he said, “offered a framework within which to understand the global challenges – arising from technological advances, demographic shifts and globalisation – that will shape the future of work.”
