Action for Save Humanity in Emergency (ASHE)
I am Claude Nimbona, a refugee, engineer and humanitarian leader dedicated to empowering displaced populations and host communities to live with dignity and self-reliance. I hold degrees in Civil Engineering combining technical expertise with a deep commitment to community-driven development. As Founder and Executive Director of Action for Save Humanity in Emergency (ASHE), I lead a non-profit organization that equips refugees and host communities in nakivale refugee settlement in Uganda with the knowledge, skills, and resources to build sustainable livelihoods. My motivation comes from personal experience—understanding how unemployment and dependency affect refugees—and my desire to create pathways toward resilience and opportunity. Mission
My mission is to empower refugees and vulnerable host-community members through skills training, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship, and environmental awareness. I believe true empowerment begins when people are equipped to generate their own income and shape their future. ASHE’s programs focus particularly on women and youth, providing them with the tools to become agents of change in their communities. Vision
I envision a world where displacement does not define a person’s destiny but opens a path to transformation. My vision is for inclusive, resilient communities where refugees are recognized as contributors to development—thriving through education, innovation, and environmental stewardship. Work and Impact
Through ASHE, I have led initiatives such as the Growing Hope Permaculture Project and the Decentralized Permaculture Production Program, both aimed at improving food security and promoting sustainable farming practices in Nakivale Refugee Settlement. These projects teach participants organic farming, composting, and income-generation techniques while restoring the environment. ASHE also provides training in tailoring, entrepreneurship, menstrual hygiene management, and computer literacy, helping refugees gain marketable skills and independence. Our model combines centralized coordination with decentralized implementation, where trained supervisors manage village-level activities under ASHE’s guidance. This structure ensures community ownership, efficiency, and long-term impact. Beyond ASHE, I am an active member of the Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation (GGAF) collaborating globally to promote refugee empowerment, youth leadership, and sustainability. My approach bridges humanitarian aid and development, focusing on locally led and environmentally conscious solutions. I believe empowerment is the most sustainable form of assistance. Through ASHE, I remain committed to building communities where refugees are not defined by their circumstances but by their capacity to lead, innovate, and inspire others. My goal is to continue transforming challenges into opportunities—turning hope into action for thousands of lives.
