Centre of Excellence in Alternative Care
Centre of Excellence in Alternative Care of Children (CEAC) was founded in December 2015 to promote alternative care of children as per UNCRC and UN Alternative Care Guidelines in India through capacity building, research, develop policies, and practice guides to influence social protection and child welfare in public, voluntary and private sectors including civil society.
With the vision of “safer and stronger families for children of India”, CEAC’s mission is to promote the safety, permanency and well-being of children, youth and families. CEAC strongly believes in empowering and engaging the local communities to deliver family-based care and support the development of family-based care.
CEAC is a leading organization promoting family-based in the south Asian Region. CEAC is being engaged with different agencies to ensure the protection of children through family-based care. More than 18,000 stakeholders, which include Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Members, District Child Protection Units (DCPU), Police, Judges, Welfare Officers, Protection Officers(POs) and civil society have been trained in India and Sri Lanka on deinstitutionalization, foster care and kinship care. CEAC is a member of the International Foster Care Organization, UK, Child Rights Connect, Geneva, Niti Aayog and NASSCOM.
CEAC is implementing partner of UNICEF of foster care in 2 state in India.
