ConnectHear
ConnectHear is the largest Disability tech platform for Deaf/HoH individuals in South Asia, now expanding globally. Started by a Child of Deaf Adult, ConnectHear leverages technology to enable access to independent communication and information for the marginalized groups to improve their quality of life and make them a part of the global economy. ConnectHear started as just a facebook page aimed to teach sign language. From the initial days, it was met with support from the community and companies who were looking out for sign language interpreters. It immediately attracted organisations for partnership, conducted a Deaf-inclusive concert, worked for election accessibility for the Deaf and started producing info-tainment videos in sign language. Since its launch, ConnectHear has served more than 1,000,000 minutes of sign language interpretation through its proprietary application, and worked with 100+ companies as their accessibility consultants. The company most recently won TiE Women Global Competition among 40+ global chapters. ConnectHear has also been recognized by The Diana Awards, World Summit Award, Draper University and Forbes for its impact and growth. About Azima Dhanjee Azima Dhanjee is a Child of Deaf Adult (CODA), Co-founder/CEO of ConnectHear, and Board Member of Social Enterprise World Forum. She is an alumna of the Institute of Business Administration (Class of 2020), with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Azima is raised by Deaf parents and Pakistani Sign Language (PSL) is her mother tongue. The lack of awareness and accessibility with regards to the Deaf community led her to initiate and manage “ConnectHear” along with her high school friend. She is also a Diana awards recipient and has been mentioned for her efforts in Forbes, Pioneers Post, and various other publications. Furthermore, ConnectHear is the winner of the P@SHA ICT Awards, TiE Women Global Competition as well as the Standard Chartered Women in Tech Competition.
