EarthCare Alliance

By raising awareness and providing practical training, we foster a culture of environmental stewardship and resilience to the environmental challenges in Lesotho. We collaborate with local NGOs and government agencies to develop educational programs focused on sustainable land management practices, targeting both farmers and policymakers. Furthermore, we have had the opportunity to work with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) programs. In this capacity, we contribute to strategic planning and the improvement of processes for the preparation of the Lesotho National Youth Climate Summits. By assisting in these initiatives, we aim to address climate change issues and promote sustainable practices. Since Lesotho is experiencing a heavy blow of land that is degraded due extreme weather events as well as human activities like improper waste management and more especially most of the arable land available, we aim to establish community-based watershed management committees to oversee the sustainable use of water resources and implement soil conservation measures such as terracing and contour plowing. We shall also leverage on technology such as remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) to facilitate monitoring and evaluation efforts to track progress and identify areas in need of intervention. We participate in social media engagements to advocate for environmental protection and to draw attention to policymakers and the biggest emitters, such as plastic production companies. Collaborating with other young climate activists, we address pressing challenges through these social media platforms. In addition to our online involvement, we regularly engage in climate change workshops at the American Corner Maseru. These workshops enforce valuable information and knowledge that is applied effectively to execute the plans and initiatives of the organisation.
