East Africa Philanthropy Network (EAPN)
EAPN is a membership Network that brings together organizations in the East Africa region with the aim of promoting philanthropy. The EAPN membership is drawn from Corporate Foundations, Community Foundations, Family Trusts and other types of Grantmaking and non-grantmaking organizations interested in promoting local philanthropy in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Our Strategic Focus Areas include Learning & Knowledge management, Alliance Building, Influencing and Institutional Strengthening. EAPN exists to nurture a vibrant philanthropy that contributes to sustainable communities in East Africa through; Influencing the philanthropy ecosystem in East Africa via research and learning by Conducting and disseminating demand driven research on emerging topical issues on philanthropy, Providing thought leadership on philanthropy matters in East Africa, as well as supporting adoption of best practices and Enhancing a conducive legal and policy environment for philanthropy. Highlighting contribution of philanthropy to the development agenda by providing timely and accurate data, telling the stories of philanthropy in the region among others. Enhancing the philanthropy practice through Deepening membership engagement and building multi-sectoral collaborations by Building more communities of practice within the growing philanthropy sector, Building a comprehensive knowledge management system and Promoting collaborations, networks, and partnerships for philanthropy as a basis of facilitating an integrated and systems approach towards enhancing philanthropy
