Fondazione Opes-Lcef
Fondazione Opes-Lcef is a non-profit foundation that supports impact enterprises in developing and emerging countries to tackle poverty and benefit low-income people in developing countries and since 2018 in Italy.
Opes-Lcef provides patient capital and management support to early-stage impact enterprises where capital needs are greatest. We promote private-sector solutions to locally address poverty and inequality through entrepreneurship and innovation. Over the last five years, Opes-Lcef has set up specific investment initiatives in East Africa focused on supporting local women-led impact enterprises that operate at the intersection of Climate, Gender, and Impact and, in Italy, a specific facility to support the social cooperatives and enterprises that suffered after the Covid emergency.
Opes-Lcef has a portfolio of more than 60 social and impact enterprises providing solutions to social problems in areas such as energy, low carbon emissions, environmental conservation, access to water, and in enterprises that address social inequalities and focus on empowerment of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups such as migrants, women, and young people. We deploy capital using gender and refugee lens investing.
Opes-Lcef also supports the social impact ecosystem by organizing various training initiatives and “boot”-camps (https://socialopencamp.org/?lang=en).
