GAYO
Green Agriculture Youth Organization (GAYO) is a non-governmental non-profit Organization that was legally registered on 17th March 2020. Our main focus is centered on environmental sustainability and nature-based solutions to enhance climate adaptation. We dream of a greener Zambia whilst helping in fostering the counties economic growth through climate smart agriculture. Our thematic areas are Energy (promoting locally led solutions towards cooking, sustainable food systems (nature-based solutions towards agriculture) and gender inclusion in the fight against climate change in order to preserve the environment. We work with the socially marginalized people of the community. Women, Youth, and persons with special needs like people living with disabilities. GAYO is currently promoting the use of locally led /nature-based solutions towards energy for cooking like rocket stoves. The rocket stoves only use only twigs of the tree as opposed to charcoal that disrupts the environment by cutting down whole tree, leading to deforestation. The Organization takes into account the challenges that affect women and youths already engaged in Agriculture and those that prevent them from venturing into Agriculture by providing a complete range of home grown Agricultural solutions across the value chains i.e. education and awareness raising in sustainable Agriculture practices for resilience and environmental protection, improved skills and knowledge in Agriculture entrepreneurship, market linkages, facilitate Empowerment through start-up capital, out-grower schemes and support services
