Independent (Angela Joubert)
I graduated from the University of Botswana with a BA in Political Science on October 2023. This is a focused approach of my passion. My career prospects are an academic and human rights activist. I say this because my 5 year plan entails getting a Masters in International Relations focusing on Human Rights and Sustainable Development. As an academic, I see myself publishing articles on Migration and Refugee Rights in Southern Africa and as an activist, providing humanitarian aid through the NGO I wish to start. Furthermore, as I await the start of my internship in May, I am applying to organizations that focus on human rights and also working on submitting journal articles in the field of Refugee right and Sustainable Development. My research targets SDG goals 1, 4, 8, 10 and 16.
Moreover, I was part of the 1st Cohort of Model Parliament Botswana. I was Member of Parliament and Secretary of the Foreign Affairs, Defense, Justice and security Committee. Though this committee, I got to help draft policy proposals and propose a Bill for the enactment of an Ambassador's Appointment Act in Botswana. Aside from this, the overall skills acquired from the program were public speaking, leadership, time management, campaign management and resource mobilization. Additionally, I joined this program as a way of learning about democratic leadership and being a part of a network that aims for the increased participation of women in political leadership thus promoting gender equality, which targets SDG 10.
I am always looking for opportunities to learn, experience, grow and improve my skillset while giving back to my community.
