Independent (Marcia Jeiambe)

I am a development practitioner with over twelve years of experience advancing gender equality, youth empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across Mozambique and the broader Southern and East African region. My work centers on strengthening feminist leadership, inclusive governance, and evidence-based programming. I specialize in gender mainstreaming, results-based management (RBM), monitoring and evaluation, and building the capacities of civil society organizations to deliver impactful and accountable initiatives. Currently, I serve as the Program Manager for Gender, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Hivos. In this role, I manage a diverse portfolio of more than 21 grants supporting feminist and youth-led organizations. I work closely with partners to strengthen their financial management, reporting structures, data systems, and program design, ensuring donor compliance while improving performance and learning. My work also involves leading strategic partnerships with civil society, government ministries, and international organizations to advance feminist leadership and inclusive development. Through initiatives such as We Lead and Free to Be Me, I help integrate gender equality, diversity, and human rights principles across program interventions. Previously, as the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager at Associação Coalizão da Juventude Moçambicana, I directed national-level M&E operations, including oversight of the Rapariga Biz database, which serves over one million adolescent girls. I developed M&E systems, supervised provincial teams, and led national surveys and consultations that strengthened accountability and informed program adaptation. My work has consistently focused on ensuring data integrity, ethical standards, and meaningful community participation. In addition to organizational leadership roles, I have contributed to regional HIV and SRHR advocacy through positions with the Global Network of Young People Living with HIV. As a member of the Her Voice Advisory Group and a former Her Voice Ambassador, I have supported adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) to participate in policy processes, access resources, and influence decision-making spaces at national and regional levels. My involvement has helped shape AGYW priorities within multi-country HIV responses and strengthen youth-led advocacy. My mission is to contribute to a more just and inclusive society by promoting the rights, agency, and leadership of women, girls, and marginalized communities. I aim to ensure that development programs are grounded in equity, evidence, and community voice, and that they create opportunities for those most affected by inequality to shape their own futures. My vision is a world where every woman and young person can fully exercise their autonomy, access equitable opportunities, and live free of discrimination. I envision development spaces where feminist principles guide decision-making, where youth leadership is valued, and where data and lived experiences work together to drive sustainable and transformative change. Across all my roles, I remain committed to elevating community leadership, strengthening systems, and advancing gender equality as a foundation for social and economic transformation.
