Independent (Prakash George Mathew)
I was a software engineer and a technology marketing professional working in Bangalore for one of the valued and reputed companies - TATA Group in India for past 22 years.
Early this year I took up my vision to bring happiness and reduce pain of elderly in my neighborhood. On the International Day of Older People, we launched the home based health care services ( medical and companionship services) for elderly within a specific area in Bangalore. A weekly meetup club for elderly to improve the happiness factor was also started along.
Immediate objective is to ease their miseries caused due to loneliness, mental health issues, and support to make best use of mobile phones.
One medical practitioner have joined me. Do not have many customers yet. Marketing is required. Slow growth through word of mouth marketing is chosen.
In order to make these initiatives both sustainable, and easily replicable, we plan to avoid raising funds. Idea is to innovate a model that can raise revenue that is required to run the system, from the elderly itself.
As of Nov 2023, we continue to explore models that suits Indian elderly well. Once a model succeeds, we believe it will help more people like me to take this approach and scale globally. Invite experts in the entrepreneurship and elder care domains to share insights and experiences to speed us up towards the goal.
