PERI BUMI
Founded in Indonesia through education action in 2021. PERI BUMI started from the restlessness of mothers in our community, which the AKAR FAMILY had previously formed. We conducted a workshop series to mitigate the climate crisis through household behavior change. We’re using education to empower mothers, teachers, and children so they can be the changemakers with their projects in their respective areas to find a solution for a specific problem. We created a module using our Roots of Growth curriculum, which was implemented in the workshops, worksheets, and projects. This 2–4-month mentor-driven workshop program activates action-oriented mothers, teachers, and children called PERI BUMI to solve Indonesia’s alarming climate because of behavioral issues. Focusing on communities, education, and connection, the program builds the up-to-date skills needed for environmental savings. It prepares mothers, teachers, and children for a mindful, lifelong engagement with solving climate problems through behavioral problems.
Strengthened by a connection-based approach and action-oriented communities, the program provides in-depth knowledge, toolkits, and mentoring from local and international experts to think about local data (communities), engage in local campaigns, and build innovative solutions. We bring together local and international practitioners, experts, policymakers, and funders to build a stronger community around children through education for mothers and teachers.
