Rubina Jahan is a Clinical Psychologist and comes with more than ten years of managerial and leadership experience in the non-profit sector of mental health in Bangladesh. Currently she is working as the Head of Clinical Services of Mental Health Program at SAJIDA Foundation (https://www.sajidafoundation.org/we-are-sajida/leadership-and-governance/). Her focus of work is to design, develop and implement Community-Based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (CB-MHPSS) which are scalable, accessible and affordable especially by the marginalized population of the community.
On clinical and professional front, Rubina is currently serving as the International Advisory Board Member at Movement for Global Mental Health (MGMH). She is also the Executive Committee (EC) member of Bangladesh Clinical Psychology Society (BCPS) https://bcps.org.bd/. Rubina is an Alumni of South Asian Network of Gender Activists and Trainers (SANGAT)
Rubina has been working on suicide prevention in Bangladesh more than 10 years with Kaan Pete Roi, 1st ever Suicide Prevention Helpline in Bangladesh. She also taught Psychology in two institutes in Dhaka for more than one year. Rubina is a National Trainer of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and a Master Trainer of mhGAP training in Bangladesh. She was awarded by the US Department of State for International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP - https://alumni.state.gov/user ) in 2022 for its multi-regional project on Innovation for Mental Health, Self-care and Wellbeing. Apart from her practitioner and trainer role, Rubina has wide experience in mental health research. She perused researches on topics like COVID-19 and mental health, tele mental health, suicide, crisis intervention, parenting, mental health need of LGBTQ and sex workers.
Rubina secured a gold medal from the University of Dhaka for excelling her Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2013. She completed her M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology in 2017. Rubina achieved a Diploma Degree in Community Mental Health Care from the Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental Health (BALM), India in 2021.
