Reformation Community (RC)

Reformation Community aims to create a self-motivated generation of problem-solvers through education, intergenerational equity and legal literacy. Under education, the organisation works with two demographics to inculcate critical thinking skills; children in their formative years (7 to 15 years) and young adults in University (18 to 24 years). To cater for our children, we use a mobile library project module that incoporates chess and robotics with reading to develop their intellect and help them think critically. For our university students, we use the Booksville University Chapter Challenge to serve as a catalyst for developing their leadership and problem-solving skills. The Challenge presents a societal problem to our students and requires them to think of a solution to that problem. We facilitate the. conceptualisation of their solution by giving them design thinking training. The winners win a cash prize, internship opportunities and career development coaching. Our desire is to ensure that by 2050, any young person in Ghana who falls between the ages of 18 to 24, refers to themselves as Reformers (problem solvers) who have actively implemented various projects in society. The plan is to create a ripple effect of change that trickles down from the older generation onto the younger generation. Civil society is one of the main tenets of a viable economy, thus training young people to want to develop their country is one of the fastest ways to sustainable development. We have worked with over 300 children on our mobile library project and have 30 volunteers who are equipped to teach them. We are also currently working with 170 university students in our chapters across four universities, and still expanding.
