SHE-CAN GLOBAL
SHE-CAN (Supporting Her Education Changes A Nation) builds global female leadership by equipping and empowering talented low-income women from post-conflict & climate-challenged countries with the education, mentorship, and leadership skills needed to change their nations and the world. SHE-CAN identifies high-achieving young women in Cambodia, Liberia, Rwanda and Guatemala and supports them on their path to leadership. After a rigorous recruitment process, scholars are matched with a team of dedicated mentors and apply to college in the U.S. SHE-CAN scholars win full-ride scholarships to top colleges, and while in the U.S., they participate in leadership training and exclusive internship opportunities. After graduation, SHE-CAN scholars return home ready to leapfrog into positions of power and empower other women.
Our work seeks to address the disproportionate impact of global challenges—such as climate change, war, poverty, food insecurity, and human rights violations—by educating women in developing, post-conflict nations. The requested funds will be used to support SHE-CAN’s comprehensive leadership development program, which provides US college scholarships, mentorship, and leadership training for young women from Rwanda, Cambodia, Liberia, and Guatemala. Our work includes providing pathways home to land in successful careers and positions to affect the systemic change the world needs. These women return home equipped to influence policy, drive sustainable development, and reduce gender inequality. Since 2011, we’ve helped 119 women win over $37M in scholarships.
