Siaya Community Library (SCL)

Siaya Community Library is a Community based registered organization, the library helps address the needs of residents to maintain a “small town” environment and a sense of community. In a rapidly changing world, individuals need to stay connected, to meet and interact with others in their community, and to participate in public discourse about community issues. The library provides a physical and symbolic community space, a public space for meeting and gathering, which is recognized as inviting, neutral and safe by all individuals and groups in the community. The library provides groups and individual experiences that make people feel connected to each other and their community, whether they are provided in the library building or offered in community facilities appropriate to the specific faculties. For now there is a need to digitize the library with high speed internet connectivity, establish the knowledge portal ICT Hub to empower youth on online outsourcing jobs, online research, online meetings as well as expansion of the children wing library. Art and culture section as well as artifact wing. Our approach is to identify potential development partners, donor agencies and philanthropic organizations
