STOP CHILD ABUSE (SCA)

Stop Child Abuse (SCA) is a refugee-led, nonprofit organization founded in 2016, operating primarily in Kakuma and Kalobeyei refugee camps in Turkana County, Kenya and in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Eastern Congo. Our mission is to advocate for the protection of children's rights and ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive. We believe every child deserves a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where they can grow and develop without fear or harm. Our vision is to create a future where every child can dream big and achieve their goals. We aim to build a world where children are free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and where their rights are upheld and protected. SCA focuses on raising awareness about the various forms of child abuse, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as neglect. We strive to educate communities about the signs of abuse and the importance of reporting and preventing it. Our outreach programs aim to empower children, families, and communities with the knowledge and resources they need to protect themselves and each other. In addition to advocacy, we are dedicated to meeting children's basic needs in vulnerable situations. This includes providing access to food, shelter, education, and healthcare. We collaborate with local organizations, schools, and government agencies to create comprehensive support systems that address the multifaceted challenges faced by at-risk children. We also focus on expanding opportunities for children to reach their full potential. By offering mentorship programs, educational workshops, and recreational activities, we help children build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Our team comprises passionate individuals, many of whom have firsthand experience of displacement and hardship. This lived experience informs our empathetic and community-driven approach to child protection. Through our efforts, we aim to foster a culture of awareness, support, and accountability, ensuring that children have the resources to lead fulfilling lives.
