Vartamaan Care Network Foundation (VCNF)

Vartamaan Care Network Foundation is a mental health organization incorporated as a section 8 company under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. It was founded in August 2020 by Chetna Singhania, a psychologist based out of Assam. The organisation is dedicated to make timely mental health support accessible and affordable for the youth so as to enhance their mental wellbeing and life satisfaction. The problem statement: Reportedly, 7 out of 10 young people have no one trusted to go to even in times of severe distress leading to the rising rate of self harm behaviors and mental health disorders among the youth. There are 13 Lakh such young people in Assam alone.(UNICEF & NSS poll, 2021) . There are multiple barriers in the path of accessing quality care for one's mental health. And all the more so for non earning youth residing in tier three towns and rural areas. Mission : making timely, quality and acceptable mental health support accessible for young adults. Vision : To create a world where young adults across communities experience an enhanced sense of wellbeing. Currently, The Organisation is running two programmes to achieve their mission: SAATH for colleges & Universities SAATH Consultant Training Programme to develop Wellbeing Companions SAATH for colleges programme : Vartamaan is currently implementing the SAATH programme in 10 colleges in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia district. Awareness sessions are conducted to make the students aware about Mental Health and test their own wellbeing state. Students faced with any mental issue can reach out for support by filling a google form. A trained consultant is assigned to them who takes them on a wellbeing journey and escalates the case to specialised professionals if there is a need. We have successfully served 245 beneficiaries so far out of which 86 beneficiaries have completed their wellbeing journey and given their feedback on the SAATH service. There has been an average of 21% increase in their wellbeing level after the intervention.
