CSR is part of SAP’s sustainable business strategy and puts SAP’s purpose into action. CSR drives long-term social impact and business value by supporting education models that help prepare youth in need (aged 14-30 years) for the digital and green economy and by accelerating the impact enterprise sector through innovation, application of organisational best practices, and market development.

SAP CSR has two focus areas that power equitable access to economic opportunity, education & employment.

Focus Areas and Key Initiatives

Accelerate Impact Business

SAP supports social enterprises through a three-pronged approach.

Organisational Capacity Enhancement

SAP enhances the capacity of social enterprises through pro bono consulting, which includes on-site and virtual support. SAP contributed $3.7 million in in-kind support through over 140 consulting projects, in 2023 alone.

Social Procurement

SAP facilitates the entry of social enterprises into new B2B markets like the SAP Business Network. It has launched functionality within the SAP Business Network to help social enterprises identify as suppliers to potential buyers, aligning with corporate sustainability goals

Policy Advocacy and Resource Investment

SAP advocates for supportive policies and dedicates resources towards fostering a sustainable and inclusive economy. This includes building networks and enhancing stakeholder capacity

Build Future Skills

SAP educates youth in need with skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values for any eventuality in a rapidly changing world. We focus on three essential skill areas: entrepreneurial skills, digital skills, and emerging 21st-century skills. This comprehensive skill set empowers youth for lifelong learning and success in an evolving global environment. Doing so, we address income inequality by connecting beneficiaries to employment or entrepreneurship opportunities.

Educational Support

SAP focuses on equipping youth aged 14-30 with essential skills for the digital and green economy. This includes entrepreneurial, digital, and 21st-century skills, aimed at preparing them for future employment or entrepreneurship opportunities

Corporate Volunteering

SAP offers a wide range of corporate volunteering and pro bono consulting programs. These initiatives not only benefit social enterprises but also contribute significantly to SAP employees’ professional and personal growth

Key Achievements and Impact

Employee Engagement

In 2023, over 20,000 SAP employees engaged in CSR programs, volunteering more than 140,000 hours, with 74 percent of these hours being skills-based or pro bono consulting

Impact on Social Enterprises

SAP’s support has led to significant positive impacts, with 96 percent noting a positive long-term impact, based on a third party impact assessment study.

Global Reach and Partnerships

SAP collaborates with various global partners, including the World Economic Forum Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship and Catalyst 2030, to scale social businesses and develop resilient supply chains.
