Measuring to Transform: Crafts & New Global Data Laws

08 May 2024 | 13:00 - 14:00
Problem-Solving Sessions / Thematic Workshops

Makers find themselves in the center of new laws that measure to transform governance, regulation, and management of the 100 trillion-dollar global economy. Data reporting laws will drive how products are made, brands compete, and businesses operate. We will use handwoven denim to make the case that 2024 inaugurates the most significant transformation of industrial, trade, climate, and consumer policies since the European Union’s founding.

Highlighting raw materials allows us to engage in ground-up reporting topics like blockchain suitability, Scope 3 data, and maker fairness. We’ll explore how advanced technological applications like blockchain can rejuvenate conventional crafts and contribute to social and environmental sustainability. In other words, we will offer a comprehensive, objective overview. This matters because current solutions are top-down.
