Afghanistan Chapter hosts SDG seminars

SDG seminar Catalyst 2030 Afganihstan

Afghanistan Chapter members held an online seminar for women who were university graduates. The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the Afghanistan Chapter for Catalyst 2030 and the essential SDGs that need to be focused on for Afghanistan. At this seminar, more than 30 women participated and after the essential discussions about the SDGs, some of the participants showed their interest in working with the Chapter to achieve these essential goals for Afghanistan.

Other participants reported that they were not familiar with SDGs before participating in the seminar. As a result, the seminar was extremely effective and was a highly productive beginning for the Afghanistan Chapter.

Promoting digital transformation and a circular economy

The Latin American Chapter played an important role in promoting inclusive digital transformation and entrepreneurship in the creative industries at the UN High-Level Political Forum 2023. Adriana Marina, a member of the Chapter from ‘Hecho por Nosotros y Animaná’ hosted a side event called ‘Inclusive Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship: How to Ignite the Circular Creative Economy?’.

Focusing on sustainable practices and the circular economy, the event aimed to show practical challenges and opportunities related to the digital and sustainable transformation of the creative industries in Latin America. It also aimed to find key areas for collaboration, innovationand opportunities for growth and diversification, with a focus on building a more inclusive and sustainable creative economy in the region. The event provided a platform for networking, inspiring concrete actions and contributing to the collective effort.

During the side event, Adriana Marina was joined by other members of the Latin American Chapter, including María del Pilar Luna from Vos Honduras, Ivan Fernandez from Curtiembre y Marroquinería D’Addario and Javier Gonzalez from abcdespañol – el Juego de la lectoescritura. These participants shared their experiences and insights into their work on Latin American’s circular economy issues , emphasising the importance of collaborations to promote this issue throughout the region.

The event brought together stakeholders from various sectors, including entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and representatives from civil society organisations, to explore ways to ignite a circular creative economy that inclusive and sustainable. By showcasing real-life examples of successful projects and initiatives in Latin America, the event aimed to inspire and encourage others to take similar actions and contribute to the growth and development of the creative industries in a sustainable manner.

Latin America Chapter empowers youth climate action at pre-COP Youth Latam Summit in Colombia

Catalyst 2030 Latin America Chapter at the Pre COP Youth latam Summit

Catalyst 2030 Latin American Chapter members, OPEPA and Movilizatorio, took the lead at the pre-COP Youth Latam Summit in Bogota, uniting 190 climate-committed participants from across the continent.

The dynamic gathering on 4 July, attracted attendees from diverse regions, including young individuals and influential figures from various sectors, all dedicated to driving climate action. The summit served as a vibrant platform for youth-led discussions, proposals and debates conducted through specialised dialogue table. The debates, aligning with the agenda of the upcoming Conference of the Parties to the Climate Change COP, scheduled for 30 November to 13 December 2023, in Dubai.
