(Policy) Roundtable discussion

People jailed for long without due process of law violate human rights & overcrowding of prisons. C2030 member organizations are engaging the Ministry of Justice to help deal with the burden of medication, feeding, transportation and prisoners sleeping in shifts. Everyone deserves a fair trial in a competent court of jurisdiction. Police officers and Magistrates frequently detained citizens owing money to a complainant. The INCHR reported, magistrate judges continue to issue writs of arrest without approval of the city solicitors. Our goal is working with defense lawyers to release pretrial detainees whose offense met spending not more than 6 or 12 months in jail for example, instead are languishing behind bars long overdue.
