How can funders be true partners in community-based social change?

06 May 2024 | 17:00 - 18:00
(Policy) Roundtable discussion

GoPhilanthropic Foundation and two grantee partner organisations will share key practical learning and experience in transforming relationships between local leaders and donor organizations. How can funders be a true and supportive partner in the change happening at the grassroots level? The participants will share anecdotal evidence on what trust actually looks like in trust-based philanthropy moving from principle to reality, using examples of the actions we have taken, insights from both perspectives (grantee partners and donor organization), in the hopes of informing and inspiring other funders to change the perspective of their relationships and build trust on a daily basis.

There is much focus WHY funders should move towards Trust-Based Philanthropy, but less focus on the HOW: the small, practical steps all funders can take to improve their practices. This session will aim to address this by providing very practical tips that other funders can take away and apply in their work. We hope this session will be very interactive and we welcome other funders to join the session, ask questions and share their valuable learning in this space.
