Increasing awareness for the Prevention of Female cancers in Liberia

Benson Hospital was set up to provide secondary Health services to women, men, youth and children. For the CCW, we want to focus on promotional services and preventive education services to help women reduce their risks to breast and cervical cancers. We would inform the public through the megaphone and media outlets about preventive services like – good eating habit with balanced diet. We will provide Information that says NO to smoking and NO to the use of chemicals that could predispose one to cancer. We will show pictures of how to self- examine the breast for early detection of lumps, abnormal sites on the breast. We will also refer women to facilities with mammography machine. We will provide screening for women after the awareness and education for early detection of cervical lesions through Visual inspection of the cervix with acetic acid and through pap smear.
We will provide promotional and preventive education services to women, children and youth in a friendly environment through health talks and vaccination services.
Other activities include curative services to patients who would need it after a through history taking, physical examination and laboratory investigations. Laboratory services are done per patient need for confirmatory diagnosis.
The Hospital employs Information Communication Technology to support quality medical services. We will employ public awareness in the role of Benson Hospital as a Partner to the Ministry of Health in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the Healthcare delivery services of the Nation. By so doing we will strengthen the Health System of Liberia.
