The Chapter co-hosted the conference on the Role of Stakeholders in the National Action Plan (NAPs) on Business and Human Rights on 27 June 2023. The conference was attended by more than a hundred participants. It aims to promote human rights protection across business activities and enjoins all states to develop their own NAPs to support the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Participants came from countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Mongolia, Japan, China, Uganda, and the Philippines among others. The event was co-organised with the Business and Human Rights Resource Center, Business and Human Rights Network, THINK Lobby and Nepal Development Initiative.
On 25 June, a social entrepreneurship (SE) workshop was held in the district of Lalitpur. Co-organised with the Nepal Development Initiative and in collaboration with National Social Entrepreneurship Forum (NSEF), Yuwalaya and the NGO Federation of Lalitpur, the workshop brought together a diverse group of social entrepreneurs, development professionals and other stakeholders, united by the commitment to drive positive change and foster innovation in communities.
The workshop placed a strong emphasis on addressing the challenges and gaps faced by social entrepreneurs, with a particular focus on Lalitpur District. Engaging discussions were held to explore the crucial role of the government, identify existing challenges and plan future actions to support the growth of social entrepreneurship in our region.
