Catalyst 2030 is seeking a Shifting the Funding Paradigm Intern

Launched at the World Economic Forum in January 2020, Catalyst 2030 is a global community of social entrepreneurs, funders and other social change innovators who believe collaborative action and bold, new strategies are needed to address the crises of our time.
Joining forces with communities, governments, businesses, funders and others, Catalyst 2030 members are working toward changing systems at all levels. Cumulatively, members have already impacted the lives of millions, often with limited resources. Together, we envision the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for all.

About the Enabling Environment Team

Catalyst 2030 offers the Intern the opportunity to work with colleagues from various countries, and to challenge themselves within the context of a vibrant and growing organisation. The ideal candidate has a background in international relations / affairs, international law, international development, social sciences or similar.

You will be integrated into the Enabling Environment Team, responsible for strategic donor partnerships, fundraising-related collaborations and supporting different stakeholders in shifting the existing funding paradigm.

Catalyst 2030 is using the power of collective action to drive a new funding paradigm. If we are to truly address the global crises of our time, the ecosystems supporting systems must change leaders enable their work, rather than hinder it. This means ensuring that the funding driving impact is effective, sustainable and embraces systems change. Catalyst 2030 and its members envisage a funding paradigm that is grounded in trust, partnership and collaboration, all to drive global systems change to support the SDGs.

What we are looking for

The person who works in this role will help us to research and inform our strategy to shift the current funding paradigm, manage the process of sharing it among our membership and support key, leading practitioners. You should have an interest in financing and fundraising for social causes and in joining a movement of change makers who are working to get the world on course to a more sustainable future. We are looking for someone who is task-oriented, eager and ready to join our team and provide support.

You will have the ability to carry out research and assimilate information from a variety of sources to help us understand the current landscape, and develop and lead our strategy for change. You should be collaborative in your approach and have the confidence to bring ideas and solutions to the table, to help us build our fundraising pipeline and grow support for the movement.

 

Responsibilities

  • Research actors, funders and organisations across the globe who are involved in any aspect of changing the current funding paradigm;
  • Support the Enabling Environment Coordinator with all the initiatives and collaborations within the Shifting the Funding Paradigm Working Group;
  • Support integration with Salesforce so that we can map activity and run reports
  • Support the convening of leadership by organising meetings, events and providing full administrative support;
  • Attend collaboration meetings for Shifting the Funding Paradigm.

 

Requirements and Skills

  • A strong interest in the SDGs, sustainability, systemic change and social entrepreneurship;
  • Excellent communication and social skills with the ability to work in a multicultural and global digital environment and demonstrate cultural sensitivity;
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment across time zones;
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing environments;
  • Proactive in seeking out solutions and pre-empting challenges;
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn from experience;
  • Capable and experienced researcher and ability to summarise information and present it clearly and compellingly;
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, Google tools and platforms such as Zoom and Salesforce is an asset;
  • Desire to work collaboratively in a team with a positive attitude and ability to rise to challenges.
